Theragenics Corporation® is a medical device company serving the cancer treatment and surgical markets. The Company’s brachytherapy business manufactures and markets seeding devices that are primarily used in the minimally invasive treatment of localized prostate cancer. Its surgical products business manufactures and distributes wound closure, needles and other surgical products used primarily in the urology, veterinary, orthopedic, dental, and plastic surgery markets through its CP Medical subsidiary, and vascular access products used in the interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, and vascular surgery markets through its Galt Medical Corp. subsidiary.

In its brachytherapy business, the Company manufacturers and markets its premier product, the palladium-103 TheraSeed® device, as well as I-Seed, an iodine-125 device. Physicians implant these “seeds” during a one-time, minimally invasive procedure, usually performed on an outpatient basis, to treat patients with cancer confined to the prostate gland. Theragenics is the world’s largest producer of palladium-103, the radioactive isotope used in its TheraSeed® product.
