Some men call it seeding. Your physician calls it brachytherapy or radioactive
seed implantation. For many men with disease confined to the prostate gland,
TheraSeed® treatment offers distinct advantages. Since 1986,
more than 100,000 patients across the nation have chosen the TheraSeed®
device. This minimally invasive outpatient procedure lasts approximately 45
minutes, during which a physician implants low-energy radioactive, rice-sized
pellets into the prostate gland to effectively fight cancer.

FACT: TheraSeed® Treatment Produces Results Better Than or Equal
to Surgery. Independent clinical studies following patients up to 12 years
after treatment prove that brachytherapy with the TheraSeed® device
generates long-term outcomes that outperform or are as effective as radical
prostatectomy.1

FACT: TheraSeed® Treatment Has a Lower Risk of Complications.
Compared to prostate removal, this minimally invasive outpatient procedure
works with a lower risk of incontinence and impotence, and rarely impacts
patients’ quality of life.2, 3 |

FACT: All Seeds are not Created Equal.
Long-term clinical data demonstrate the palladium base used in TheraSeed®
treatment acts faster and results in significantly fewer long-term
complications than iodine-based seeds.4 |
In the majority of cases, brachytherapy results in fewer complications than
surgery. Less than 1 percent of men experience incontinence2, 7 and
10 to 15 percent of patients experience impotence.2, 8 By
comparison, one study indicated approximately 10 percent of men having surgery
experience incontinence5, and another scientific study concluded up
to 79.6 percent of prostate surgery patients experience impotence.6 Altogether,
TheraSeed® treatment provides an excellent chance for a complete
life.
